Managing Learners

Keep track of your learner drivers, their progress, and lesson history all in one place.

Adding a Learner

  1. Go to Learners
Navigate to the Learners section from the menu.
  2. Click "Add Learner"
    Open the new learner form.
  3. Enter their name
    Add the learner's full name.

Include any relevant information about the learner - their experience level, goals, any special considerations.
  5. Save
Click Save to add the learner to your list.

Your Learner List

The Learners page shows all your learner drivers:

  • Learner name - Quick identification
  • Notes - Any information you've added about them
  • Actions - Edit or delete options

Editing a Learner

  1. Find the learner in your list
  2. Click the Edit button or their name
  3. Update their details
  4. Save your changes
Tip

Use the notes field to track important information like test dates, areas they struggle with, or their learning preferences.

Deleting a Learner

  1. Find the learner in your list
  2. Click the Delete button
  3. Confirm the deletion
Important

Deleting a learner will remove them from your list, but any logs or observations that reference them will still show their name. Consider keeping learners in your list even after they've passed their test as a historical record.

Using Learners in Logs and Observations

Once you've added learners, they'll appear in dropdown menus when you:

  • Create a reflective log - Select which learner the session was with
  • Book a lesson plan - Schedule lessons for specific learners
  • Receive an observation - Your trainer selects the learner when observing you

This helps you:

  • Track how many lessons you've done with each learner
  • See which learners you were teaching during observations
  • Identify patterns in your teaching across different learners

Privacy Considerations

Your learner information is private:

  • Only you can see your full learner list
  • Your trainer can see learner names when viewing your logs/observations
  • Learner details are not shared outside your trainer-PDI relationship
Best Practice

If you're concerned about privacy, you can use initials or nicknames instead of full names. What matters is that YOU can identify which learner each log refers to.

Tips for Managing Learners

Add Learners Before You Need Them

Set up your learner list before you start logging sessions. This makes creating logs quicker and ensures consistency.

Keep Notes Updated

After significant lessons or milestones, update the learner's notes. This creates a useful reference for future lessons.

Include Test Dates

If you know a learner's test date, add it to their notes. This helps you focus your teaching as the date approaches.

Note Learning Styles

Recording whether a learner responds better to visual, verbal, or hands-on instruction helps you tailor your approach.
