Planning Effective Lessons

Tips for making the most of your lesson planning:

Set Clear Objectives

What do you want the learner to achieve by the end of the lesson? Having a clear goal helps structure your teaching.

Consider Previous Progress

What did you cover last time? What needs more practice? Building on previous lessons creates continuity.

Plan for Flexibility

While having a plan is important, be ready to adapt based on how the lesson unfolds. The best instructors can adjust on the fly.

Include Various Activities

Mix instruction, practice, and reflection. Variety keeps learners engaged and addresses different learning styles.

Allow Time for Reflection

Build in time at the end for the learner (and you) to reflect on the session. This supports competency 17!
